The Show Organisation

The Chalfont St Giles Show doesn't just happen every year. It takes a tremendous amount of hard work and effort to make it a success by a dedicated army of volunteers in the months leading up to the event. With the event attracting several thousand people every year, organisation and planning is critical to the success of the Show. Without such a positive driving force behind the event, it would either cease to exist, or be of a poor, sub-standard quality.

NOTE: We are currently on the lookout for volunteers wishing to contribute to the Show, by helping out on-the day. For more information on how you can help, please read more about Get Involved.

The Show Committee

This year has seen a modest change in the Show committee. Simon Swerling continues as Chair. Grant Kirkby is the new Treasurer and Caroline Jackson has joined the committee.

Your Application for Funding

In most years, the Show makes a financial surplus on its activities and, at the AGM, the show committee proposes an amount of funds which are to be put aside and can paid to local charities and other organisations meeting the qualifying criteria, who can apply for donations to their activities or projects.

The detailed qualifying criteria are set out in clause 9 of the Show Constitution but broadly this comprises local charities, national charities with local branches, and other local non-charitable organisations concerned with education, health, relief of poverty, children’s welfare or welfare of the elderly.

Update on Charitable Donations for 2017

The Show Committee would like to thank everyone who attended the show in 2016. The poor weather inevitably led to lower ticket sales but, despite the rain, it was still a great day out. As a result of the lower revenue, the committee reported at the AGM that there would be no additional funds available to give to charities in 2017. Whilst there remains a small sum outstanding from reserves, this will be allocated to outstanding applications.

The Show Committee is not, therefore, currently in a position to receive any further applications for funding from charities. If you have any queries regarding this, please contact the secretary using the enquiry form here.
